Happiness in the Holiday

This season is not easy for many people across the world. It can be a time of loneliness, a time of fear going into the coming year, and a time where you may even want to distance yourself from loved ones. Many may not find this time as easy to take on.

For me, the holidays serve as a time of reflection. It’s times when I reflect on how far I’ve come in the year and how much more I want to accomplish. The season of thanks and gratefulness. The season of love and joy even if you don’t have every gift you want under the tree or not surrounded by loved ones you thought would be there in this season.

I say with empathy that not everyone feels the holidays are a joyous time so similar to our own situations, let us be kind to those around us. You never know what someone is going through. People have lost loved ones since COVID and may not find this season so enjoyable. Even if that’s the case for you in this season, try something I choose to do…Redefine happiness.

Redefine what holiday traditions look like, celebrate those who are less fortunate, and do something nice for those who know your struggle. Find beauty in the struggle. Although it’s a challenge in itself, there is a story in the struggle. The true reason for the season and how we choose to see it matters. It can change your perspective. There is happiness that can be found in this season. All we can do is make the most of our now, we can’t change the past, we can only focus on what lies ahead.

Redefine your happiness and let God lead you to your destiny.
