Summer is Near!

Summer is just around the corner and I’m sure every one of us is trying to get some act right! Doing a wellness check with my fellow people? How are we eating and feeling these days? How is your body treating you?

You may be like me and been cheating a bit and eating Chick-fil-a or Zaxby's and that's okay. I have cheat days, but I jump back on my healthy habits. If you recall, there was once a time I couldn't tolerate any fried food-chicken included. Now it's a treat to me. However, even with occasionally eating, my body has reacted to it. As we get older, we see the effects of eating poorly. It can vary from weight gain, bloated stomach, or perhaps your face breaks out from excessive amounts of fried foods and sugar. How many of you experience stomach aches after eating poorly? I know I'm not alone. Your body will talk to you and tell you everything you need to know whether it be now or later on, it will begin to speak to you.

Imagine the same with our relationship with JC (Jesus Christ). If we get off track and go down the dark narrow path, our bodies in the spiritual will begin to take a toll like poor foods do in the physical. We are human beings, we will make mistakes, and we aren't perfect. However, when acknowledging the right from the wrong (whatever that means for you), you will take control and do what it takes to get back on your right path.

If we can't get to a better rhythm for exercising and developing healthier eating habits-we may not pay for it now but we will later.

Most elders will tell you, try eating that pizza at 3am when you reach their age-you'll pay for it tremendously. Can you say Heart Burn?! Your drive and ambition to succeed in life should stem from what you fuel your body with. Eating healthy may not excite you but the ending result will. I will take living longer, reaching my goals, and losing weight for 100 Alex! Ha!

This pandemic has allowed us to see the value in our time and our health- how it’s spent and who we are spending it with-how to remain accountable. If you’re similar to me, you want to get the most out of your days. Exercise and eating right are a major factor in accomplishing my regular set goals. I know when I eat healthier meals and exercise on a regular, my thinking is much sharper, my body feels rejuvenated, and I feel ready to take on the world.

Even with the busiest of schedules, I find myself including even a meal supplement if I'm in need of something quick on the go! Also, with the weather breaking I even try to get in a brisk walk on my lunch break. For some, this conversation of wanting to lose weight before summer comes is the norm or as I heard the other day, the one hour I lost with the time change was the one hour I was going to use to go to the gym. It sounds humorous but this is the “stinking thinking” as my Pastor would say, that gets very limited to no results. If we don’t in fact change our mindset, we get nowhere.

Matthew 5:37 simply says, "Let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No'. Stand firm and remain committed to doing the right thing for you!

This may send some of you into overdrive because you demand your time spent to be productive and effective while others may read this post and remain in their very dedicate state. At the end of the day, the choice remains ours!

Lastly, I leave you with something I find to be of great help for me. Here is a company I recommend that sells an amazing protein powder I like to add in my smoothies, and it truly acts as a meal replacement when I’m in between meetings or in between my commute to teach group fitness classes.
